Ethnomusicologist with research interests in African music and the German image of Africa in music. After completing his doctorate on the transmission processes of Cameroonian church music (2012) at HU Berlin, he became coordinator of the German-Nigerian-Ghanaian DAAD Research Training Group “Performing Sustainability” at the University of Hildesheim (2016-2021). He now is a substitute professor for ethnomusicology at the University of Würzburg since 2020. Due to many years of experience as a video editor at German television stations, Nepomuk Riva always tries to combine audiovisual and scientific topics.
